African leaders must meet health promises
A new African civil society coalition has called on African heads of state to keep promises to spend 15% of their national budgets on health. African leaders are preparing to meet in Ethiopia for their annual summit. The coalition, Fair Play for Africa - comprising over 200 organisations across ten countries - will launch their campaign for improved healthcare on the African continent in Luanda during the African Cup of Nations this month.

Zimbabwe Launch Fair Play for Africa Campaign
From June to July this year South Africa will be hosting the 2010 FIFA World Cup in June, arguably the most popular sporting event on the planet, creating a celebration across the continent as it welcomes the event for the first time to African soil. It is this historic occasion that has encouraged FairPlay for Africa (a group of over 200 African CSOs in 10 Countries ) to join forces and exploit the opportunities presented by the World Cup to campaign on issues that affect Africa and its citizens particularly on promoting government accountability on issues of HIV/AIDS, health, education and commitments linked to the MDGs. In line with this, a consortium of 25 CSOs in Zimbabwe including Students Partnership Worldwide, BOOST Fellowship, Young Voices Network, BornFree and Community Working Group on Health are launching the FairPlay Campaign ahead of the 2010
